Who is Mark?

My name is Mark. I'm a Seattle-based software developer and family man. I've lived most of my life in the United States, but also lived abroad for ten years during my childhood and adolescence, spending time in Germany and Argentina.

I've spent most of my career as a full-stack developer, having worked in the fields of advertising and travel. I currently spend most of my time using Java, Kotlin, and JavaScript and using things like Spring Boot, react.js, AWS, and others to do my work. In the past I've also worked in Ruby on Rails and in the .NET framework.

I live in the Seattle area with my wife and children. I will not disclose any of their real names or show photos of them on my blog, but I will say I have three kids, and they are the best. They keep our hands full, but I am constantly amazed and delighted by their curiosity, enthusiasm, and love of learning.

My interests outside of work include reading, cooking, going on adventures, bicycling, and learning about history. Lately, I've also revived my teenage hobby of mod music and the demoscene.

I hope you find my writings interesting. If not, you can always ignore them.
